The concept of Translation

Translation is a means of interlingual communication, and comes from the Latin Translatio which means transporting. Translation is a process with a final product. This  process is performed by a tranlator and is made between two different written languages; the original text is called the Source text (ST) and the product is called Taget text (TT).

The translator needs to have enough knowledge of both the source and target language, also the translator needs to have a good linguistic sensitivity as he or she transmits the writer's intention, original thoughts and opinions.

It is important to make a difference between Translation and Interpretation. Commonly, the term Translation is used for both diciplines, but it is a generalization, because Translation is about written texts and Interpretation is about oral Translation.

We can say that both diciplines require focus, cultural background, translators and interpreters need to be neutral and follow the author's ideas. It is not an easy work, but is the best job you can have.
